Tadawul index drops slightly


JEDDAH, Dec 24, 2012 (Arab News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) fell slightly (0.18 percent) to 6,890.31 points yesterday, flip-flopping between green-red within a narrow range of 24.3 points. The TASI trimmed its year-to-date gains to 7.36 percent.



Large cap indices closed the day a little lower.

Sector indices performed in a mixed fashion, with seven sectors accumulating an aggregate of 76.6 points and eight sectors shedding 293 points collectively.


Media and Telecom were major winners among sectoral indices, which marginally increased by 1.03 percent and 0.64 percent respectively. On the other hand, Hotel & Tourism sector moved downward, shedding more than one percent in a day.

Saudi Telecom Co. outdid rest of its heavyweight peers, advancing 1.39 percent to close the day at SR 43.7. On the negative side, Kingdom Holding showed the worst performance, declining 1.1 percent for the day.

Market breadth with advance-decline ratio of 0.58:1 remained slightly negative.

Amana Cooperative Insurance topped the gainer chart at Saudi stock market for the second consecutive day, surging 9.98 percent further to SR 168.

Share trading activity remained low yesterday as compared to previous day; turnover went down by 7.8 percent in terms of volume and 2.4 percent in terms of value. More than 183.4 million shares worth SR 5.6 billion changed hands on the Saudi stock market.
