Baidu resorts to mobile browsers to seek fortune in Africa

act on Monday with the biggest French wireless internet operator - Or
ange to preinstall its mobile browsers in the latter's Africa-sold And
roid equipments from this year.
According to the agreement, the Chinese language search engine was
allowed to implant mobile browsers on Orange's low-end Android-driven
cell phones that might be sold in Egypt where Android players doubled
in the second half year of 2012.
Currently, telecommunication services in a bundle of regions in
Africa are operated by western countries such as Vodafon of the United
Kingdom and Orange, whose parent France Telecom boasts 80 million use
rs there.
In a bid to better their clients' experience, Baidu and France T
elecom said that they would use special code design to compress networ
k traffic flows to adapt to the telecom network in Africa.
Ever since last year, Baidu has poured lots of efforts to expand
into the overseas market and it, as media report showed, invested a v
ast amount of capital on R&D on Chinese and other languages service an
