It was also fulfilling for Zain as the company welcomed several Telecom Ministers and Regulators to its booth and chose to make a number of announcements around several community initiatives as well as highlighting a number of agreements that reinforce Zain s position as a leading customer-oriented telecom provider in the region. Zain Group Chairman, Asaad Al Banwan and Zain Saudi Arabia Chairman, Fahd bin Ibrahim al-Dughaither participated in several activities and meetings held at the hospitality suite, joining Zain Group CEO, Scott Gegenheimer and several country operation CEOs, namely Omar Al Omar from Zain Kuwait, Elfatih Erwa from Zain Sudan, Hassan Kabbani from Zain Saudi Arabia, Ahmad Hanandeh from Zain Jordan, Mohammed Zainalabdein from Bahrain and Basel Manasrah from South Sudan and other high ranking Zain senior executives from across the company s regional footprint. More than 85,000 visitors from 201 countries attended the 2014 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, setting another new record for the mobile industry's premier event. More than 1,800 exhibiting companies showcased cutting edge products and services with 3,800 international media and industry analysts attending to report on the many significant industry announcements made at the Congress Notable visitors to the Zain hospitality suite to discuss pertinent matters included the Bahrain Minister for Communications H. E. Sheikh Fawaz Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa and the Director General of the Kingdom s Telecommunication Regulatory Authority, Mr Mohammed Hamad Bubshait, as well as the Governor of Saudi Arabia s Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), Eng. Abdallah Al Darrab. Additionally the South Sudan Minister of Telecommunications & Postal Services, the Hon. Rebecca Joshua Okwachi visited the Zain suite to hold discussions with Zain management and so did chess grandmaster and former world champion Gary Kasparov. During the Congress, Zain also held talks with representatives from leading technology solution providers including Huawei, Ericsson, NSN, Google, Facebook, Samsung, Microsoft, IBM, Cisco, SAP and Oracle and operators including Vodafone, Deutsche Telecom and SK Telecom amongst many others.
