Etisalat announces strategic partnership for developing Fixed and Mobile Broadband Services [Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates)]

(Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ABU DHABI, 14th April, 2014 (WAM) -- Etisalat, the UAE s telecom provider, has signed an agreement with Huawei Technologies to develop fixed and mobile communications networks, as part of the company s aim of becoming one the top operators in the world in terms of providing integrated ICT services.

Under the agreement, Huawei Technologies will provide Etisalat with a range of consulting services, which involve developing Etisalat s capabilities for offering Mobile Broadband (MBB), Fixed Broadband (FBB), Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) and the launch of first commercial eMBMS (LTE Video based on Multicast and Broadcast) services in the Middle East and North Africa.

The partnership is in line with Etisalat s efforts to expand its enterprise ICT and Smart City services leveraging its leading broadband infrastructure, as well as achieving operational excellence through highly-efficient Customer Experience Management (CEM).

Saeed Al Zarouni, Senior Vice President, Business Planning and Technology Evolution, Etisalat, said: "Etisalat is committed to constantly upgrading its existing networks and infrastructure and building the internal capabilities by entering into strategic partnerships with specialised international companies that hold long standing experience in consulting and implementing major telecommunication projects to the highest international standards. This agreement will enhance our competitiveness in the telecom market and make us pioneers in offering the latest MBB and FBB services.

"Furthermore, Etisalat is keen to provide its customers with the best broadband connectivity and enhanced user experience. This will enable our corporate customers to optimise their business models and enhance profitability, and residential customers to enjoy enhanced user experience while using different mobile applications, in addition to creating the Smart City ecosystem in the U.A.E." The strategic agreement comes at a time when Etisalat is ramping up efforts to keep pace with the rapid expansion in broadband services and the increase in data traffic from smart phone and fixed line users who are eager to use such services as LTE Video based on Multicast and Broadcast, while providing high quality voice services.

The agreement provides the general framework to exchange knowledge and technical expertise in developing systems and infrastructure that deliver better performance, quality, increased coverage and speed, while enhancing user experience in data transfer, high speed broadband and accessing e-Government services via mobile phones.
