President Atambayev visits boarding school for orphans in Oktyabrsky district of Bishkek [AKIpress News Agency (Kyrgyz Republic)]


(AKIpress News Agency (Kyrgyz Republic) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev has visited the 71st school of the Oktyabrsky district in Bishkek that had been restructured into a boarding school named after Togolok Moldo for orphans and children without parental care. Designed for 1 thousand 260 students, the Kyrgyz language school was put into operation in September 1990. The budget allocated significant funds for maintenance of the school, and many school premises were rented out for a nominal fee as only 460 students studied in it. To date, major overhaul of the school, including the roof and facade was conducted. The heating system and windows were completely replaced. In addition, furniture, computer equipment and multimedia tools for learning, laboratory classrooms for physics, chemistry and computer science in line with modern requirements and academic standards were purchased. Biometric passes for school students and the teaching staff will be introduced. Internal and external video surveillance, and Wi-Fi will be installed as well. A dormitory for 300 places will be built on the school's territory. Today, the boarding school enrolls 556 students, including 142 full and social orphans. The new academic year enrolled 80 orphans from all regions of Kyrgyzstan. The total cost of the repairs amounted to $700 thousand. Furthermore, financial support of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) allowed 20 orphans to spend their summer vacations in Turkey. The project to support children left without parental care and to create the special school was implemented upon the initiative of President Atambayev. The relevant memorandum of cooperation between the Education Commission under the President and the Turkish charity fund was signed.
