* 1 p.m.-- Spruce Woods Provincial Park is hosting Murder in the Sands -- Guided Hike. A Halloween Murder Mystery until 3 p.m. at the Spirt Sands Trailhead. There has been a murder in the park and the park interpreters need your help! One of our endangered northern prairie skinks was found deceased along the Spirit Sands trail. Detectives of all ages are invited to help solve the murder of Stewie the Skink by finding clues along the trail. Be sure to wear proper hiking shoes for this three-kilometre hike. * The Royal Canadian Artillery Museum at CFB Shilo -- Come and see our First World War exhibit commemorating the 100th anniversary of the First World War as well as the 100th anniversary of Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry. Our Gun Park is open year-round with 28 guns and vehicles on display with interpretive panels. Dress for the weather as it is an outdoor display. * The Daly House Museum -- Original home of Brandon's first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly, which was built in 1882 and is the only period museum in western Manitoba. Ordinary citizens of Brandon who were heroes at home during the First World War are commemorated in the exhibit, "Every Citizen a Soldier." * The Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum -- Hours are 1 p.m.-4 p.m, seven days a week. The museum is Canada's only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of the history of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War. Check out our newly unveiled RCAF Second World War Memorial, a black granite wall approximately 300 feet in length containing the names of more than 19,000 fatalities, with a larger-than-life bronze statue representing the fallen.

* The Brandon General Museum and Archives -- On the ground floor of the old Manitoba Telephone building at 19 Ninth St. Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. On display is a new exhibit showcasing Manitoba Telecom Services' history.

* The Tommy McLeod Curve Gallery -- Is located in the John E. Robbins Library at Brandon University. Hours are Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m.-11 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 1 p.m.-5 p.m. On display is "Brandon College and the Great War" until Dec. 31. This is the untold stories of the men and women from Brandon College who took part in the First World War.

* The Arts West Travelling Gallery -- The travelling gallery will be at the Carberry Library until Saturday. It then moves to the Neepawa Arts Council.

Upcoming events * Oct. 28 -- Brush Strokes' 28th exhibition will take place Oct. 28-Dec. 18 in the foyer at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium with the opening reception at 7 p.m. on Oct. 28. * Oct. 28-30 -- Come out to the Grim Acres Scare Away Cancer Halloween Yard Haunt Fundraiser at 1002 Russell St. from 6-9 p.m. nightly and from 5-10 p.m. on Halloween night. * Oct. 30 -- Get those memories out of the closet! Daly House Museum is proudly hosting an Antiques Roadshow Fundraiser at the museum from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proceeds to support the museum's current collection of photographs, documents and artifacts and will help to better preserve and share those items with future generations. Heirlooms will be appraised by local expert Terry Smith. There is a small fee of $7 per item or three items for $20. * Oct. 31 -- The Brandon Police Service Monster Mash takes place in the Manitoba Room at the Keystone Centre from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. for grades 7-12 students of the Brandon School Division.
