Major US mobile carriers to offer Samsung Gear S smartwatch [Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates)]


(Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) AT&T and Sprint have announced plans to launch the Samsung Gear S smartwatch on 7 November. T-Mobile US will also begin offering the Samsung Gear S on 9 November for zero money down and USD 14.58 per month for twenty-four months. The device will be available from AT&T for USD 199.99 with a two year agreement. At Sprint, the Gear S will be available with Sprint Easy Pay for no money down and USD 16 per month for twenty-four months.



Available in black and white, the Gear S has customisable screen clock faces and changeable straps. The device is build on the Tizen-based wearable platform and features a curved 2-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, IP67 dust- and water-resistant certification, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity and Nike+ and S Health applications. Gear S also enables users to play songs stored on the device or control music stored on the companion smartphone when the device is out of reach.

Gear S requires pairing with Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy S 4, Samsung Galaxy S 4 mini, Samsung Galaxy S 5, Samsung Galaxy S 5 Sport, Samsung Galaxy Note II, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 or Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
