Aksh Optifibre wins INR 1 bln order for India's NFS project [Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates)]


(Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aksh Optifibre has won a contract worth INR 1.02 billion for India's Defence Network For Spectrum (NFS) project. Overall investment in the NFS project are expected to reach INR 130 billion. State-owned operator BSNL is in charge of project implementation, The Economic Times reports. The Defence Network For Spectrum project comprises of a total of 57,015 kilometers of optic fiber network and is expected to be completed in 18 months. The project includes an optical fibre backbone, network management systems and a satellite network.



Following the completion of the defence telecom project, India's armed forces will migrate all their communication services to this alternate optic fibre network and free more bandwidth for commercial telephony services. The mega network will be deployed with fibre optic cable technology and form the backbone of the optical highway infrastructure.
