LightCyber Targets Enterprises with New Products and Next Version of the Magna Active Breach Detection Platform

LOS ALTOS, California and RAMAT GAN, Israel, January 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --

LightCyber, a leading provider of Active Breach Detection solutions, today announced new features to its award-winning solution, LightCyber Magna 2.8. Expanding enterprise scalability, LightCyber Magna now further supports large and distributed enterprises with the new Magna Probe product line. Magna Probe enables organizations to perform inspection of network traffic at remote locations, such as branch offices, to broaden attack detection across a large distributed network.

LightCyber Magna 2.8 introduces the following new products and features:

  • Magna Probe: The Magna Probe product line is an additional component of the Magna Platform that extends network visibility to enterprise branch offices or additional locations, performs the data collection and inspection functions and forwards necessary data back to a Detector for profiling and analysis.
  • Additional Cloud-based Threat Intelligence: To augment the program's profiling-based detection, LightCyber Magna extends the Magna Cloud with sandboxing capabilities to inspect suspicious executables collected at the endpoint using the agentless Magna Pathfinder. It also introduces domain threat intelligence to identify attackers' command & control communications. These capabilities augment the primary network-based breach detection techniques, and provide security operations with additional forensics information.
  • Expanded Integration with Firewall Solutions: LightCyber Magna 2.8 also adds Palo Alto Networks technology to its list of certified integrations. The integration, specifically with the Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewall - a key component of the Palo Alto Networks enterprise security platform - enables security operators to automatically isolate and contain suspicious or known-breached endpoints, thus cutting off exfiltration and preventing damage.

The only cyber security breach detection solution to combine network-based deep packet inspection with endpoint state, LightCyber Magna profiles user and device behavior to identify anomalous attack behavior that is indicative of a security breach. Highly accurate behavior-based breach detection provides enterprise security operators with actionable and prioritized alerts that help reduce attack dwell time and damage potenial.

"LightCyber was deployed as a proactive measure to identify potential attacks across our network," said the director of network security at a large NYC-based private equity firm. "It is successfully helping identify and mitigate potential attacks that otherwise may have been difficult to trace."

Stephen Harrison, director of sales with EverSec Group, Inc., the reseller for the private equity firm, said: "LightCyber was the only solution they could find that would allow them to identify actionable anomalies on their internal network without requiring a massive amount of IT resources and storage space. When they recognized that much larger financial services firms with dramatically bigger cyber defense budgets were getting breached, they realized that they needed this solution now, before it was too late."

"The majority of large organizations do not have an adequate ability to detect and respond to sophisticated attackers who have already or will eventually breach their networks," said Gonen Fink, CEO of LightCyber. "LightCyber Magna version 2.8 introduces a variety of expanded features and functionality that even further enable our enterprise customers to cost effectively deploy an active breach detection solution across a distributed enterprise environment and seamlessly fit into their existing IT vendor infrastructure."

Industry Validation

In their February 2014 report titled, "Designing an Adaptive Security Architecture for Protection From Advanced Attacks," Gartner Vice Presidents Neil MacDonald and Peter Firstbrook wrote: "All organizations should assume that they're in a state of continuous compromise. However, organizations have deluded themselves into believing that 100% prevention is possible, and they have become overly reliant on blocking-based and signature-based mechanisms for protection." The analysts recommended that security teams should "shift your security mindset from 'incident response' to 'continuous response,' wherein systems are assumed to be compromised and require continuous monitoring and remediation."

LightCyber recently received high-profile recognition for its innovative approach in detecting active attacks, and was named a 'Cool Vendor' by Gartner* and was one of 10 finalists for RSA® Conference's 2014 Innovation Sandbox program.

Availability

Magna Probe will be GA in mid-February as a virtual appliance via a perpetual or subscription license fee. Other listed capabilities are included with subscription and maintenance. For more information, please visit http://lightcyber.com/detectorprobe/.
