VocalTec Acquires Outsmart

Herzliya, Israel-based provider of carrier-class multimedia and voice-over-IP solutions, VocalTec (News - Alert) Comunications Ltd. has reportedly purchased the assets of Outsmart, including its technology and intellectual property, as well as its primary customer and partner contracts.
Certain Outsmart personnel would be retained to ensure the continued development and support and an uninterrupted transition to all Outsmart customers and partners. Outsmart deals in telecommunications convergence solutions.
By acquiring Outsmart, Vocaltec would be able to position itself as a provider of VoIP solution and applications to both fixed line and mobile service providers.
“The acquisition of Outsmart will enable VocalTec to get a strong foothold in the Value Added Services area for the service providers, hence accelerate the growth of its business,” Ilan Rosen, chairman of the Board of Directors at VocalTec, said.
Jacob Bros, CEO of Outsmart, said that Outsmart’s products have been recognized by Tier-1 mobile service providers as most innovative and leading the upcoming - unavoidable - revolution in providing cross-geography services.
“VoIP technology will play a major role in this paradigm shift and as such teaming up with VocalTec will position the technology of Outsmart in the forefront of the industry,” Bros added.
“Acquiring Outsmart's assets is a natural step forward that will enable VocalTec to better position itself in the mobile and converged Telecom market,” Ido Gur, president and CEO of VocalTec, said, adding that the company is committed to Outsmart's technology and believes that the synergies will create opportunities for expansion.
VocalTec provides carrier-class multimedia and voice-over-IP solutions to communication service providers. It specializes in trunking, peering and residential/enterprise VoIP application solutions that enable flexible deployment of next-generation networks.
The company has collaborated with leading system integrators and equipment manufacturers to cater to the needs of an installed base of scores of leading carriers including Deutsche Telekom and Telecom Italia (News - Alert) San Marino.
In fact, Recently, VocalTec and Runcom Technologies introduced their integrated WiMAX (News - Alert) VoIP solution.
