eServGlobal Limited announced that its PayMobile solution has been selected by Nokia Siemens (News - Alert) Network for installation in a mobile operator network in Afghanistan. This will form part of a network expansion project aimed at enhancing the networks capacity, coverage and agility across the country.

In a release, Craig Halliday, CEO, eServGlobal said, “We have a long and successful history of working with Nokia (News - Alert) Siemens Networks and are proud to be part of this project. PayMobile services are already in use worldwide and we are confident that they will be an asset to this Operator.”

eServGlobal (News - Alert) is a global telecoms software vendor that offers Mobile Money and Value-Added Services (VAS) to help Telco Service Providers increase their revenue and gain and maintain customer ownership, said company sources.

According to officials, mobile coverage in Afghanistan has reached almost 60 percent compared to no coverage only eight years ago. It is expected that with growth, operators will require additional services in order to differentiate themselves from other providers.

With this in mind, Nokia Siemens Networks (News - Alert) picked PayMobile, which offers a feature rich suite of services which can be used by operators to serve a wider market, said eServGlobal officials.

Nokia Siemens will leverage PayMobile to provide top-up services for both voucher and electronic recharge to its customers. eServGlobal and Nokia Siemens Networks will strive to build and manage sales and distribution networks. This is imperative in emerging markets and while deploying any recharge network.

The mobile coverage growth in Afghanistan will require operators to service more remote locations with limited infrastructure. Such obstacles will be handled by Nokia Siemens Networks and eServGlobal and a solution that caters to all local needs will be found, stated officials.

The presence of multiple tiers of management enables the operator to work through a hierarchy of agents for reaching the street selling market. PayMobile is capable of managing several thousand agents at one single customer site.

The PayMobile solution also includes several modules which help operators to optimize their offerings with market maturity. Also PayMobile can be adapted to serve operators’ mobile payment needs, from various channels and types of funds such as traditional and electronic vouchers, electronic funds, cash, bank accounts or credit cards, added company sources.
