Nabors Industries has recently signed two year contract with Harris CapRock (News - Alert) Communications, a global provider of fully managed communications for remote and harsh environments, to use satellite communications for multiple land rigs and a base office in Iraq.
This new contract will enable Nabors personnel working in remote Iraq land drilling sites to get connected to their local base office and corporate headquarters. To makes this happen, Harris CapRock will offer its very small aperture terminal services along with other services like data transmission, Internet connectivity and ongoing service and support to sites throughout Iraq, with the potential for additional VSAT units to be secured in the future.
Sri Valleru, chief information officer, Nabors Industries, said that they need to help their operations personnel focus on what they are there to do, not worry about how to learn a new communications system or about the integrity of its reliability and Harris CapRock met their requirements with its global capabilities and was a natural fit for their team.
The new agreement is an extension of Harris CapRock’s existing relationship with Nabors and currently offering Nabors with similar services in other parts of the world including one base office and two land rigs in Papua New Guinea, one offshore rig in Gabon and one offshore platform rig in Southeast Asia.

Harris CapRock is active is offering its services in number of other project sites in Iraq to aid customers with government and energy operations, providing a range of fully managed communication solutions and systems integration services.
Harris CapRock currently owns and operates a robust global infrastructure that includes teleports on six continents, five 24/7 network operations centers, local presence in 23 countries, and over 275 global field service personnel supporting customer locations across North America, Central and South America, Europe, West Africa and Asia Pacific.
