Hughes (News - Alert) Europe and Bentley Walker have joined hands to launch Ka-band communications services in the Middle East over the Avanti Hylas 2 satellite. This will augment the satellite capacity available in this region.
This agreement between Hughes and Bentley has entailed Bentley Walker to buy three additional Gateway (News - Alert) NOCs from Hughes. Two of the Gateway NOCs are the new HX System 4.0s which allow resellers to set up local Virtual Network Operators (VNOs).
Anthony Walker, CEO of Bentley Walker revealed, “With our strong history of success working with Hughes Europe, together with Avanti’s reputation for technical excellence, we are delighted to be among the first resellers to take full advantage of the new Ka-band services. This will enable us to offer higher speed packages, allowing soldiers to benefit from consistent broadband delivery at the speeds they choose.”
Bentley Walker will be empowered to enhance its Ka-band broadband offerings and deliver broadband communications services to US military personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan. These services are expected to serve morale, welfare and recreation (MWR) purposes optimally.
Also, existing users can easily upgrade to the new Ka-band service, which promises higher throughput speeds via a smaller dish making the solution cost effective, said officials.
