A telecommunications operator in Africa and the Middle East, MTN (News - Alert) has selected Emptoris Inc. to enable its global sourcing program. An announcement to this effect was made by Emptoris Inc., a leading provider of strategic supply management and enterprise contract management solutions.
“MTN has experienced phenomenal growth of its mobile subscriber numbers in the markets it serves in Africa and the Middle East,” said Dino Colbert, Group CPO of MTN Group (News - Alert). “To keep up with that growth, our group procurement function continually seeks to develop stronger relationships with our supplier base and secure more transparent and competitive pricing.”
Talking about MTN’s vision, Colbert said that in order to be a leader in telecommunications in emerging markets, MTN would have to leverage the best-in-class technologies, and Emptoris Sourcing, which had proven its value in the most challenging environments, would be ideal to help MTN to address the challenges and opportunities that future growth would bring in its wake.
MTN, which essentially focuses on the Middle East and Africa, has more than 120 million subscribers in 21 emerging markets. It will use the Emptoris Sourcing Solution in order to automate its sourcing process, and also to ensure that the organization sources optimum products and services, while it manages supplier performance. This will reduce the supply base risk and the sourcing cycle time to a great extent.
Emptoris Inc. will provide the initial event management and adoption services in order to ensure rapid utilization and value from the solution for MTN.
